1136 (H.B. 547.407. Sec. (2) a bus purchased by a school district that is a model year 2018 or later if the board of trustees for the school district: (A) determines that the district's budget does not permit the district to purchase a bus that is equipped with the seat belts required by this subsection; and. (2) complies with each applicable identification requirement established by an agency of the United States or the department. Sec. (2) test an item of vehicle equipment independently in connection with a proceeding to determine compliance with a department standard. 892 (H.B. SUBCHAPTER F. ADDITIONAL LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN LARGE VEHICLES. 2810), Sec. 4, eff. (c) A vehicle that is lawfully parked on a highway is not required to display lights at night-time if there is sufficient light to reveal a person or vehicle on the highway at a distance of 1,000 feet. 2837), Sec. If the operator uses liquid-burning flares to comply with Subsection (b)(2), the operator shall also, after complying with Subsection (b)(2)(B), place a liquid-burning flare at the traffic side of the vehicle at least 10 feet in the direction of the nearest approaching traffic. 547.352. (c) At least one lighted lamp shall be displayed on each side of the front of a motor vehicle. (e) A flare, fusee, electric lantern, portable reflector, or warning flag must be a type approved by the department. Sept. 1, 2001. (B) a luminous reflectance of 25 percent or less; (2-a) a side window that is to the rear of the vehicle operator; (3) a rear window, if the motor vehicle is equipped with an outside mirror on each side of the vehicle that reflects to the vehicle operator a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear; (5) an adjustable nontransparent sun visor that is mounted in front of a side window and not attached to the glass; (6) a direction, destination, or termination sign on a passenger common carrier motor vehicle, if the sign does not interfere with the vehicle operator's view of approaching traffic; (9) a luggage rack attached to the rear trunk; (10) a side window that is to the rear of the vehicle operator on a multipurpose vehicle; (11) a window that has a United States, state, or local certificate placed on or attached to it as required by law; (12) a motor vehicle that is not registered in this state; (13) a window that complies with federal standards for window materials, including a factory-tinted or a pretinted window installed by the vehicle manufacturer, or a replacement window meeting the specifications required by the vehicle manufacturer; (A) used regularly to transport passengers for a fee; and. Unless the law states DEPARTMENT CERTIFICATION OR APPROVAL OF VEHICLE EQUIPMENT. (c) If a vehicle safety inspection is required under this code for the operation of a vehicle described by Subsection (b), the vehicle shall automatically be considered to pass the inspection with respect to any equipment: (1) the requirements from which the vehicle is exempt under Subsection (b); or. 942 (H.B. 6, eff. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a farm tractor, self-propelled unit of farm equipment, or implement of husbandry shall be equipped with: (1) at least two headlamps that comply with Section 547.333, 547.334, or 547.335; (2) at least one red lamp visible at a distance of at least 1,000 feet from the rear and mounted as far to the left of the center of the vehicle as practicable; (3) at least two red reflectors visible at all distances from 100 to 600 feet from the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps; and. Vehicles that are equipped from the manufacturer with approved lenses which are clear and lighted by red L.E.D. 547.005. (B) authorized to operate under license or permit by a local authority; (15) a vehicle that is maintained by a law enforcement agency and used for law enforcement purposes; or. LIGHTING EQUIPMENT. (b) A truck or truck-tractor that has at least three axles is not required to have brakes on the front wheels, but must have brakes that: (1) operate on the wheels of one steerable axle if the vehicle is equipped with at least two steerable axles; and. REQUIRED LABEL FOR SUNSCREENING DEVICES. 882 (H.B. 2.13, eff. (b) A reflector required by this chapter mounted on a vehicle subject to this subchapter shall be visible from the rear, if a rear reflector, or from the applicable side, if a side reflector, at nighttime at all distances from 100 to 600 feet from the vehicle when the reflector is directly in front of: (1) lawful lower beams of headlamps; or. (2) activated by the vehicle operator's muscular effort, by spring action, or by equivalent means. 1116), Sec. 547.618. (b) The Texas Department of Transportation may adopt standards and specifications for lighting that permit the use of flashing lights for identification purposes on highway maintenance or construction vehicles and service vehicles. This subsection does not prohibit an additional control device that may be used to operate brakes on a towed vehicle. 3026), Sec. 165, Sec.
